A Scottish Homecoming

Sceptre Tours, a leader in vacations to Ireland and beyond, has put together a number of special packages to celebrate Scotland’s “Homecoming 2010” event.

The "Homecoming 2010" program is a special events-filled celebration of Scotland’s contributions to the world and showcases Scottish traditions, culture, and rich heritage. The year-long program of more than 200 events aims to encourage people of Scottish descent or ancestry — as well as those who simply love Scotland — to “come home” and take part in this unique celebration.

The five special “Homecoming” packages offered by Sceptre Tours from May through September, 2010, are:

Burns An ‘A’ That

Celebrate the life of Scottish culture with a festival of music, poetry, and art in honor of Robert Burns, one of the world’s greatest poets. This package is land-only featuring 4 nights’ accommodations (2 nights in the Edinburgh area and 2 nights in Ayrshire area), full Scottish breakfast daily, and coach and driver for days 2-4.


Military Tattoo 2010

Attend the 60th Edinburgh Military Tattoo at Edinburgh Castle, the world’s largest gathering of military musicians, and enjoy the inspiring Massed Pipes and Drums in style. Package is land-only and includes 2 nights’ accommodation at the Inchyra Hotel in Polmont, full Scottish breakfast, a ticket for the Saturday performance of the Edinburgh Military Tattoo, and more.


Glasgow International Piping Festival Package

Experience the mystique of the bagpipes at the week-long Glasgow International Piping Festival. This package includes 3 nights’ accommodation at the Best Western City Centre, Glasgow; Continental breakfast daily, and tickets to three of the festival’s key events: The International Piping Concert, The World Pipe Band Championship, and The After World’s Shindig.


The Braemar Highland Games 2010 Package

The Highland Games are an important part of Scottish tradition and culture and The Braemar is certainly one of the most famous and traditionally attended by members of The Royal Family. Come watch tossing The Caber and the Tug Of War championships! This package is land-only and includes 2 nights’ accommodation in Aberdeen, full Scottish breakfast daily, and a one-day ringside ticket to the Braemar Highland Gathering.


The Gathering 2010 Package

The undisputed highlight of the 2010 Scottish Homecoming might well be the Clan Gathering to be held in July. Participants can join in on the fun at the World Highland Games Heavy Event Championship, the Clan Parade, and the Clan Pageant. This package is land-only and includes 3 nights’ accommodation at the Barcelo Carlton hotel in Edinburgh; full Scottish breakfast daily; entrance to Edinburgh Castle, a one-day ticket to the Highland Games at Holyrood Park; and a half-day city tour of Edinburgh with coach and English speaking guide.
