Bonnie Scotland

Breathtaking Highland scenery awaits you on this vacation to beautiful Scotland. Your trip begins in Glasgow, Scotland’s largest city. From Glasgow, follow the “Bonnie Banks” of Loch Lomond and take the ferry for your overnight stay on the romantic Isle of Skye. Further into the remote Highlands, keep a look out for the mysterious Loch Ness monster as you make your way to Inverness. See a sheepdog display and visit a whisky distillery. Enjoy pretty Braemar, home to the Royal Highland Games for over 900 years, then travel to St. Andrews, where you have the opportunity to hit a few golf balls. At Scone Palace, hear about the crowning of Scottish kings before enjoying two nights in Scotland’s capital of Edinburgh. Visit mighty Edinburgh Castle and the Queen’s Holyrood Palace, then tour this city at your own pace. A return to Glasgow via the New Lanark World Heritage Site completes your Scottish vacation experience.

The Bonnie Banks is a song, that about 1876, the Scottish poet and folklorist Andrew Lang wrote a poem based on the song titled "The Bonnie Banks o' Loch Lomond". The title sometimes has the date "1746" appended[3]--the year of the defeat of Bonnie Prince Charlie's rebellion and the hanging of some of his captured supporters.

The Isle of Sky is the largest and most northerly island in the Inner Hebrides of Scotland. The island's peninsulas radiate out from a mountainous centre dominated by the Cuillin hills. Although it has been suggested that the first of these Gaelic names describes a "winged" shape there is no definitive agreement as to the name's origins.
